International Standard Numbers (ISNs)
This site from Library and Archives Canada provides information about the international standard numbers used for categorizing and uniquely identifying published materials. ISBNs are applied to books, pamphlets, CD-ROMs, etc.
Legal Deposit
Legal Deposit is the means by which a library (or other institution) is able to gather a comprehensive collection of the publications of a particular nation. Canadian publishers are required by law to send copies of their publications for Legal Deposit.

As Canada’s national library, Library and Archives Canada is the legal depository for all materials published in Canada. In addition to many other resources, the library offers reference assistance, interlibrary loans, and document delivery.
