Access Copyright was founded by Canadian creators and publishers in 1988 to meet the needs of users of copyright protected materials, while ensuring the fair compensation of creators and publishers for the use of those materials. Through our licensing solutions, Canadian educators, businesses, not-for-profit organizations and other users are saved from having to secure permission to copy from each copyright holder each time they want to copy. Instead, with a single licence from Access Copyright, they can copy from a worldwide repertoire of millions of books, magazines and newspapers in a flexible and convenient manner. Basically, we offer two types of licences: a comprehensive licence which gives advance permission for most copying, and a transactional licence which gives permission for occasional or one-time copying of works.
Royalties collected from these licences are then distributed to the creator and publisher copyright owners. For more information on our distribution methodologies, please click here. Sponsorship Program: Access Copyright’s sponsorship program is open to any organization interested in applying for and receiving funds for events consistent with our mandate, which is that we strive to meet the needs of users of copyright protected material, while also ensuring creators and publishers receive fair compensation.
