Join us for another fascinating discussion on the issues, trends and portents that impact the publishing industry.

Some people argue passionately that the gates to Canadian publishing should be thrown open to foreign investment, while others, with equal vigour, sound the alarm bell that this will lead to the end of a sovereign print culture. This debate is now more than theoretical as the Department of Canadian Heritage has begun a review of the Revised Foreign Investment Policy as it affects the book publishing industry.
How would you advise the Minister of Cultural Heritage?

  • Is the Revised Foreign Investment Policy on Book Publishing and Distribution leading the industry in the right direction?
  • Should it be kept as is, modernized, or abandoned?
  • Is it doing enough to protect Canadian culture?
  • What ideas do you have about our cultural borders – are they a barrier or a bounty?

Please join the Book and Periodical Council and an excellent slate of speakers to exchange your ideas on a subject of vital importance to all Canadians.
